For normal adults, your body will tell you if you listen carefully. Some people find it hard to fall asleep after drinking tea. Others may have palpitations or fast heart rate. A study of 680 postmenopausal Chinese women found that those who drank oolong tea regularly had 4.5–4.9% higher bone densities than non-tea-drinkers ( 62 ).

Decaffeinated tea is not caffeine free. It still contains up to 0.4% by dry weight caffeine content. The longer the tea leaves have fermented, the greater their caffeine content. The shorter the brewing time, the less caffeine ends up in the cup. The smaller the tea leaf, the stronger the extraction of caffeine. The first and second leaves of the tea plant are believed to contain the largest amount of caffeine at 3.4 %.

The best tea for detox will help produce a good bowel movement that is soft, smooth, and easy to pass, but not watery.
