Growing Up With Technology: Teenage Digital Detox Camp.

“I loved it. After this, I’m going to get a landline and turn my mobile off for some weekends. I’m also going to take social media off my phone.”

No alarm clocks here! We’ll awake every morning to a sunrise so beautiful that you’d cut off your hands to be able to Instagram it, wouldn’t you, you garbage monster?

Participants gain insight into personal lifestyle techniques and practices that keep them grounded and connected even in the most stressed, overwhelming and technologically driven times.

You’ll begin each day with a guided mindfulness exercise led by Randy, who has twenty years of experience as a “marketing ninja” and just learned what mindfulness is three days ago. Then go play! The camp is set up for everything from relay races to scavenger hunts, so you can disconnect, let loose, and pray that you’re picked to be on someone’s team. Arts and crafts lovers, you’ll get to work with your hands, creating watercolor paintings and jewelry that will be lit on fire and burned to ash in front of you as a reminder that, because of your addiction to all things digital, your inner child isn’t here at this friendship-bracelet workshop, or at this six-thousand-seven-hundred-and-fifty-dollar retreat, and is, in fact, possibly gone forever. Note: art supplies must be purchased separately and are non-refundable.

Connection vs. Disconnection: By providing a truly integrated experience that nourishes both mind and body, while deepening one’s sense of self without the digital distractions of everyday life, we are able to focus on the tenants of connection, rather than disconnection.

As we disconnect from our devices, we reconnect with ourselves, our community, nature and the world at large.

“A really great experience. I will be implementing a restricted phone and digital regime at home, i.e. no screens on a Sunday and no phones in the bedroom. I’ll also take off work email from my phone and be really mindful during the week of when I use the phone and Internet”.
