I get that this can be a difficult step for people from a practical perspective and I still encourage people to give themselves some grace when adapting to a gluten-free diet. But as far as the health and nutrition benefits go, it’s likely well worth your while to make a concerted effort with this principle.
The first reason is phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are micronutrients that can only be found in plants and science is just beginning to understand some of their amazing health-promoting properties.
Once you’ve reset your norms though, you should be fine to just eyeball your serving sizes the same as you do now.
So, whilst my “Get-back-on-track Plan” doesn’t necessarily include a full-blown detox, it does involve a “ Be kind to your liver ” plan. Here are some of the things that I plan on doing to get back on track and regain control, not only of my PCOS, but my eating and habits:
